„Unpredictable Certainty“ is a photo project documenting the effects of the energy and economic crisis in Germany‘s most important industrial region and the challenges faced by the people there.
I started this project in the late summer of 2022. At that time, it was completely unclear how the energy supply in Germany would develop. The population was concerned about whether gas storage facilities would be full enough to get through the winter unscathed or whether consumption would even have to be sanctioned more heavily. Fears of power outages circulated. In February 2023, we can say that we came through the winter reasonably unscathed. Nevertheless, people in Germany, an important industrial location, are struggling with fears and worries and are wondering if costs will continue to rise and how the situation will develop for next winter.
This photo project reflects the effects of the daily energy crisis management in the private sector and in the homes of German workers, while portraying the potentially lasting damages that this severe crisis will have for future generations
